All About Our Internship Program
Here at Wela Creative Studio, we’re all about education and empowering the entrepreneurial age. That’s why every semester, we take a group of interns under our wing! Our interns gain valuable experience by assisting us in our different departments and seeing the behind the scenes of what it takes to run a company!
Different from other internship programs out there, we are focused on giving our interns a meaningful internship experience that not just exposes them to different areas of our business, but also helps them network with their peers and other business and professionals in our community. Read along to learn all about our internship program:
Who Are Our Interns?
Our internship program is open exclusively to college students who are eligible to receive college credit. Many of our interns are students at Arizona State University or Grand Canyon University, but we’ve had interns from other schools as well!
Our interns are motivated, hard-working, friendly, and love to have fun! They’re willing to jump in and help with anything the directors need to help our company grow and succeed. They also have a good understanding of the Wela Creative aesthetic, as this is such a big part of who we are! Our interns typically spend 15-20 hours a week here in our Phoenix office, and every day looks different!
What Do They Do?
When our interns apply, they choose which department they’d like to be an intern for. We have editorial interns, events interns, graphic design interns, photography interns, marketing/social media interns, and business administration interns!
Our interns have different tasks based on the department they’re in. Here’s a quick overview of their responsibilities!
Editorial Interns– Our editorial girls help us take the Wela blog to the next level! They spend their days crafting blog posts and pitching ideas to our Editor, reaching out to bloggers and brands for interviews, and updating our audience on the latest tech trends through This Just In posts!
Events Interns– Our event planning girls oversee all Wela outings, workshops, and events to ensure they run as smoothly as possible! They stay busy researching potential workshop sponsors, securing sponsors, planning workshops, and working with the social media team to promote all of our events!
Graphic Design Interns– Our graphic design gals work with all of our teams to create graphics for events, blog posts, marketing materials, and social media! They stay busy working on pin images, Snapchat geofilters, event flyers, and more! Plus, they have a good grasp on Photoshop, Lightroom, and InDesign!
Photography Interns– Our photography interns work closely with the creative team and have a good understanding of the Wela aesthetic. Daily responsibilities include taking photos for the Wela website, blog and social media, editing photos using Photoshop and Lightroom, and brainstorming ideas for stock photoshoots!
Marketing/Social Media Interns– A day in the life of one of our social media or marketing interns includes crafting captions, scheduling out content, and engaging with our audience across different social media platforms! Our social media/marketing babes also track down new brands to collaborate with and brainstorm cutting-edge marketing methods to pitch to our Marketing Director!
Business Administration Interns– Our business administration interns work closely with our Executive Assistant! They get to see the ins and outs of running a business and stay busy doing some accounting, working with customers, managing company schedules, and maintaining the backend of our site.
Being an Intern at Wela Creative Studio is an experience like no other! In addition to tons of learning, our interns enjoy a relaxed dress code, complementary branding and blogging courses, company outings, and a super fun work environment! Our goal is for our interns to walk away with valuable experience that they can take with them in their next big endeavor!
